Dragon Ball Soundtrack Analysis & Themes #2: Movie 1 "The Legend of Shenlong (M200)
In this video I analyze the first Dragon Ball movie soundtrack! The M200 soundtrack, in this post I will focus on talking about the themes present in these soundtracks, for information about the soundtracks themselves, click here.
Goku: Dragon Ball's opening theme "Makafushigi Adventure" is bodied into the soundtrack, serving as Goku's first theme. Sometimes a triumphant variant is heard, usually used for the character's most crucial moments.
Menace: Theme made to represent the destruction, danger, hopelessness and moments foreshadowing the coming of a evil. (This movie is the debut of this theme)
King Gurumes: Theme made to represent the film's main villain, King Gurumes, it clearly inspired his Army's theme, having less notes.
Gurumes' Army: Theme made for the Gurumes' Army, it's clearly inspired by King Gurumes' theme, adding more notes to the melody.
Bulma New Theme: For this movie, A New Theme was made for Bulma, this one is a completely original melody, unlike her first theme, which was a instrumental arrangement of "Romantic Ageru Yo" (the series' ending song).
Pansy: Theme made to represent Pansy.
Yamcha New Theme: In this movie, a new theme was made for Yamcha.
Kame Sennin: Originally presented in the A-J Score, this theme was made to represent Muten Roshi / Kame Sennin.
Kinto'un: Originally presented in the A-J score, this theme was made to represent Kinto'un, Goku's flying cloud. (This movie is the final use of this theme)
Shenlong: Originally presented in the A-J score, this is the individual made to represent Shenlong, the inspiration in the theme of the Dragon Balls is quite clear.
Victory: Originally presented in the M00 Score, this theme was made to represent the victory and peace gathered by Goku and his friends.

M262 - Shenlong (0:59)
M264 - Gurumes and The Apple (1:15)
Romantic Ageru Yo (Movie Size) (1:36)
- There are possibly 3 unused tracks according to my listing, these are
- M213, M235 and M256.
- This movie reuses 2 tracks from the TV Series A-J Score: F19 "Why Not The World or Riches?" and F24 "A Dragon Ball!".
- The BGM M255 (originally called by fans as "Gurumes' Army Theme") is a unused track, my guess is that it was meant to be used in the scene where Yamcha invades Gurumes' castle, with the track possibly being replaced by the reprise of M229 "Goku vs Yamcha".
- There's a debate about if, M220 "Pansy in the Forest" and M221 "Ogre Oolong" are the same track or not, I personally think they're separate tracks, with the former being used in its full length in the TV series only.

Gohan vs Cell Max Rescore
For the final battle of Gohan Beast and Orange Piccolo against Cell Max in the Dragon Ball Super Super Hero Movie, I really think the "Climax" track doesn't sound as epic as it should be, so I decided to rescore the scene by building a whole new custom track with the official tracks from the original score, and of course, including a thematic continuity by adding Cell Max's and the "Super Hero" themes.
All music composed by Naoki Sato.
